Who are we?
The Pals With Paws group was formed in 2008 and is located in Elk Rapids, Michigan. We are the Northern Michigan Chapter of a nationally recognized organization called Love On A Leash; we are the only formalized Animal Assisted Activities and Therapy group in the Northern Michigan area.
The goal of Pals With Paws is to train and maintain a group of handler/dog volunteer teams to visit local residents, hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, schools, V.A. care facilities and other human service facilities in and around the Michigan area. Our outreach teams are educated in Animal Assisted Activities or Therapy, and work with a variety of populations.
All dogs are therapy certified with either the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification or the Foundation for Pet Provided Therapy.
